We have had lots of fun in pre-school this month using all the natural resources of Autumn. We have done lots of craft activities, leaf printing and collages and used conkers and acorns for counting and sorting games.
We have noticed the change in the weather, how the leaves are dying on the trees and changing into beautiful colours and why this happens.
Halloween was a very exciting time. All the children helped to decorate the pre-school room and we looked at pumpkins and made lanterns. We had a Halloween party where we decorated our own cupcakes with different coloured icing and did lots of dancing and played party games.
We have been focusing on good manners, being kind to our friends and being aware of the feelings of others. We are reminding the children of the importance of saying please and thank you.
We have also been encouraging the children to be independent by putting their own bags and coats on their pegs when they come in, taking themselves to the toilet, when they are ready, and washing their hands correctly.
We have bought some new construction toys for the pre-school. A construction set called Mobilo and a large set of magnetic shapes which are proving very popular and allowing the children to choose how they do things and have their own ideas about the models they make. We also have new wooden letters and numbers which we use every day in play and various activities.
As the weather gets colder and wetter can I please ask that the children all come into school with warm, shower proof coats with hoods and sensible shoes so that we can still enjoy outside play in all weathers.
Also a set of spare clothes in their bags every day is essential at this age. Please also include socks!
